Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking ahead to their challenge tie with Leeds United as they look to try and push their place for an automatic promotion spot.
The Villans will know a win, as well as other results going their way, will ensure they are in the playoffs, although Steve Bruce is keen for his side not to slip up along the way. Their run towards the top of the Championship has been dogged by injuries, however, it is rumoured that one of their star forwards could be making a comeback relatively soon.
The Birmingham Mail are claiming that Jonathan Kodjia is closing in on a return after a significant ankle injury, although his manager has admitted he will continue to take it easy with him following a seven-month layoff.
“The question now is what is best for Jimmy,” he told the Birmingham Mail.
“We have to get him fresh as a daisy, fit as a fiddle for the playoffs.
“You could see the impact he had on Tuesday night, compared to a few weeks ago.
“He looked like Jimmy again which was good for everyone.”
The Ivorian was the club’s top goalscorer last season before suffering the broken ankle in their penultimate game and had a run before he suffered his latest setback. As you can imagine, our punters clad in claret and blue are keen on seeing him return to action as soon as possible.
The Villa locals in the Tavern will be delighted with the news that the 28-year-old is on his way back to regular first-team football and with the playoffs a likely outcome, a number of punters will hope he can still find the back of the net as consistent as last season.
