Aston Villa are in talks to renew Callum O’Hare’s contract with the club, according to Football Insider.
The 21-year-old is highly regarded by those at Villa Park and will be sent out on loan to Doncaster Rovers, with competition at the club having risen following promotion to the Premier League, as previously reported by the same outlet.
Villa have already taken up an option to extend O’Hare’s deal until 2020, but want to hold him down to a longer contract as a reward for his progression.
O’Hare spent the second half of last season on loan at Carlisle United, starting 16 League Two games, scoring three goals and assisting three times, as per Transfermarkt.
His goal contributions turned out to be pivotal in games for Carlisle: he scored in a 2-1 win against Swindon Town, assisted twice in a 2-2 draw with Cambridge United, scored in a 3-2 win against Bury as well as getting a goal and assist in a 4-2 win against Crawley Town.
The England U20 international has played a total of nine games for Villa, with his latest being in an FA Cup loss against Swansea City in January 2019.
Villa have gone about their business well this summer in terms of securing big-name arrivals and getting this deal done is a continuation of that.
Indeed, it is an encouraging sign that Villa are doing this before he heads out on loan, an indication that he has support from those within the club.
