Callum O’Hare is set to join Doncaster Rovers on loan, according to Football Insider.
There are said to be a host of League Two teams who are interested in signing the 21-year-old on a temporary basis, though Doncaster manager Darren Moore is confident he will be able to bring him in.
The England U20 international impressed away from Villa Park in the second half of last season, but the competition now that Villa have been promoted to the Premier League means first-team opportunities would be very hard to come by for him.
O’Hare played 16 matches in League Two last season while on loan at Carlisle United, scoring three goals and assisting three more, as per Transfermarkt.
What is perhaps most impressive about these goal contributions is that they all came at important times and resulted in points for Carlisle: he scored in a 2-1 win against Swindon Town, assisted twice in a 2-2 draw against Cambridge United, scored in a 3-2 win against Bury and got a goal and assist in a 4-2 win against Crawley Town.
The 21-year-old has played a total of nine games for Villa, getting one assist against Sheffield Wednesday. Still, in attacking midfield berths, Dean Smith boasts the likes of Jack Grealish, Amwar El Ghazi, Trezeguet and Jota, so life in the Midlands could be hard for the youngster when it comes to first-team minutes.
Letting O’Hare go out on loan makes sense for both the player and club, as it is unlikely he would be able to get much game time at Villa Park and having excelled last season, it is best to get him as many minutes as possible – while this also sees O’Hare step up a league.
It will also be a good move for Doncaster if they can complete it, as it would see them recruit a player that has already shown he can make an impact in the Football League.
