Chris Sutton talked about Aston Villa's dire situation in the Premier League on BBC's Football Daily podcast but also stated that the return of John McGinn could potentially give them a boost.

Times are certainly tough for the Villains in the English top-flight and the newcomers were described as 'relegation certs' by the Daily Telegraph's John Percy. Still, Sutton believes that the return of McGinn could still give them that much-needed boost that could potentially still save their season when everything is said and done. Indeed, given the situation at the moment, that's surely what Villains will want to hear.

Here's what he stated on BBC's Football Daily podcast (10/3/2020): "They still have talent, they still have [John] McGinn to come back and, maybe, maybe he will be the difference-maker for Villa because they miss that drive in midfield, that tenacity is a massive miss."

The 25-year-old midfielder has been missing since December last year when he suffered a serious ankle injury. Since then, he's missed a total of 17 games and counting

Of course, when he's fit, McGinn is a big part of Dean Smith's squad and prior to his injury, he had played the full 90 minutes of every single Premier League clash bar the latest one against Southampton when he suffered the injury in the first place. Along with that, the former Hibernian man (per WhoScored) was averaging the most dribbles per game (2.3), drawing the second-most fouls per game (2.2) and taking the joint-most shots over the same period (2.1).

For that reason, his return could indeed be a major boost for the Villains.
