Many Aston Villa fans responded to Tyrone Mings’ plans for his academy during the ongoing pandemic.
The England international admitted in an interview with talkSPORT that “as a footballer, I’m just sitting here waiting for it all to blow over, but there are a lot of people out there doing a lot more important work than I am.
“We’ve got the academy with a few sites in Bristol and a couple in Birmingham as well, and we’ve opened the doors to NHS workers and key workers – they can come at the end of this awful virus for a term, about six weeks, so that they can bring their kids along for free.”
In light of recent events, the country is in a nationwide lockdown, and Mings’ brand new initiative is aiming to help healthcare staff and local communities. He went on to discuss the scheme further with the club’s official website.
After spending a season on-loan at Villa Park, Mings joined the club from Bournemouth last summer on a permanent basis for a reported fee worth £20.07m. The 27-year-old has made 23 appearances in the Premier League for Dean Smith’s side, bagging 2 goals and providing 1 assist, as well as registering a staggering 5.8 clearances per game and completing 1.7 blocks on average in the English top flight (via WhoScored).
Predictably, plenty of AVFC supporters are delighted with his latest update, with one dubbing the defender as a “legend,” and another labelling him a “class act.”

Well if we have a captain vacancy in the future, I know who I'd like to get the honor.
