Aston Villa will certainly head into the January transfer market with the aims of improving their squad considerably in certain areas.
One area that Dean Smith will need to make additions to is his central defence, where they currently only have the likes of James Chester and Axel Tuanzebe as his recognised men.
It is believed that the Villans are interested in Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu and are considering whether to make a temporary switch for him in January.
The Wales international has yet to feature for Maurizio Sarri and could be given the chance to play some regular football elsewhere in January.
However, it is believed the Italian regards the defender highly, as he refused to allow the 18-year-old to leave in the summer when Villa and Derby County allegedly made enquiries to sign him.
Primarily a midfielder, Ampadu has the versatility to be able to turn out in the middle of the defence and could be an inspired signing for Smith and Aston Villa.
The Villa Park outfit already have Tammy Abraham on their books on a temporary spell, whilst John Terry being at the club could also help to bring the teenager to settle at the club.
However, it remains to be seen if whether Chelsea will allow their exciting prospect to depart from Stamford Bridge, especially considering that he is highly regarded in west London.
