Aston Villa fans will be jubilant in the Transfer Tavern after they continued their charge towards an automatic promotion spot with a 3-0 victory against Reading, and the locals are starting to get excited with news about transfer targets.
According to a report in the Mirror, the Villans are interested in bringing Southampton’s Charlie Austin to the club. The striker remains the top goalscorer for the Saints despite an injury-hit season and should they be relegated, they will find it difficult to keep him.
Should Steve Bruce’s side be promoted, they will be in a good position to bring the forward in, although they would have to compete with the likes of Leicester City and AFC Bournemouth.
Austin has a proven record of scoring goals in any of the leagues he has played in, having netted over 130 times during his career and the Villa punters will be hoping the club can get the 28-year-old to sign for them in the summer.
Aston Villa fans in the Tavern would be excited by the arrival of Austin and would be a valuable man to the side should they win promotion to the Premier League. The striker has the experience of playing in the top division, which many of the attackers at Villa Park do not and the locals will be urging the club to get a deal done!
If they can land him this summer, the punters propping up our bar would absolutely love it.
