Several Aston Villa fans enjoyed listening to what former player Ritchie De Laet had to say about ex-manager Steve Bruce.
De Laet, who spent a few seasons at Villa Park, recently spoke to The Athletic about his time under the current Newcastle United boss, and the 31-year-old did not hold back when it came to his assessment of the Steve Bruce regime.
“Steve Bruce wasn’t my cup of tea,” De Laet told The Athletic. “The football was similar to Tony Pulis but at least Tony had a plan. I remember Steve would throw the ball into the middle in training and say, ‘Let’s play’, like we were under-nines. It was crazy.”
De Laet failed to get going as a Villa player, picking up a serious knee injury early into his career at the club. In total, he played just eight league games across three seasons in a disappointing spell at Villa Park.
The Belgian right-back is now playing his football in his homeland with Royal Antwerp, who are currently just two points behind second place.
Whatever the case, despite his lack of impact in the Midlands, plenty of Villa fans still respected his opinion as they took to Twitter to react to the above comments. Take a look at what they have been saying below…
