Aston Villa: Fans debate club’s best ever English international

Aston Villa: Fans debate club’s best ever English international - Aston Villa

Many Aston Villa fans have debated who which player they think is the best ever England international to play for the club.

Prior to the club’s relegation to the Championship, Villa contributed heavily to the England setup with the likes of Ashley Young, Darius Vassell, Lee Hendrie, Gareth Barry (to name a few), all representing the Three Lions.

A return to the Premier League last summer has seen recognition from England boss and former Villa defender Gareth Southgate, opting to select central defender Tyrone Mings for international duty.

Playmaker Jack Grealish has also been considered for a call-up as his performances continued to improve prior to the break in football.

Engaging with each other via social media more than ever due to football’s absence, fans have been taking part in various debates, and a latest one has Villa fans looking into their previous England representatives.

Many opted to select David Platt as the England player they feel was the best, having seen the former midfielder represent England at the 1990 World Cup in Italy, where he produced some magical form.
