Aston Villa: Fans deliver verdict on Marvelous Nakamba

Plenty of Aston Villa fans have handed midfielder Marvelous Nakamba a rating for his performances this season.
The 26-year-old midfielder arrived at Villa Park last summer from Club Brugge having spent two seasons with the Belgian giants.
Arriving in a deal worth €12 million, the Zimbabwe international linked up with former Brugge duo Wesley and Bjorn Engels, and he has found consistent playing time under Dean Smith.
Making 24 Premier League starts, Nakamba has provided Villa with a solid option in the middle of the park. He has averaged 2.4 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 1.4 clearances per game, although he has also made two errors leading to a shot and one leading to a goal (SofaScore).
His performances have been good enough to gain interest from Turkish giants Trabzonspor though, who were linked with a move, according to Fotomac (via TEAMTalk).
With the current break in football due to the pandemic, Villa fans will be hoping that Nakamba can play a part in helping the Claret and Blue fight off the threat of relegation.
Sitting 19th in the Premier League table, Smith’s side are hoping to avoid dropping back down to the Championship after gaining promotion via the play-offs this time last year.
Reacting to a tweet by fan account @VillaTil1Die, fans responded with mixed comments for the Zimbabwe midfielder. One however did like him to former Villan and current PSG star Idrissa Gueye…
💭 From 1-10, how would you rate Marvelous Nakamba’s time at Villa so far? #AVFC

6 – Works hard for the team, seems to be in the middle on his own most weeks #utv

Might knock his quality at times, but can’t fault his work ethic and desire. If the training staff can keep polishing him could be a solid cdm

7 – Reminds me a bit of Idrissa Gueye, and we got rid of him far too early. I think once he’s settled he could become a very good player for us.

7 he can still improve

7/10 has shown moments of brilliance but has shown moments were I think “how is this guy a pro footballer!”

Nakamba gives the midfield balance when paired with Luiz but I think he would be more effective with mcginn behind Jack. Has had to do more tackling because of mcginns absence and has been working at full capacity. Can rate him a solid 7 but will improve

6- but I think there is more to come. I would love to see a system that can properly link him, Luiz, Grealish, Mcginn, Wesley and Samata all together. 🤔
