Aston Villa: Fans discuss Tom Heaton’s performances this season - Aston Villa

Aston Villa fans have handed keeper Tom Heaton a verdict on his season, which was cut short due to injury.

Arriving from Premier League side Burnley last summer in a deal said to be around the £8m mark, Heaton immediately became Villa’s number one keeper, starting all-but one of the Claret and Blue’s Premier League games in 2019.

In that time he managed to keep a total of four clean sheets, whilst also making 68 saves and 11 high claims (via Premier League).

Sadly for the England international, an injury suffered against his former club in January saw him ruled out for the remainder of the season, prompting Villa boss Dean Smith to sign Pepe Reina during the winter transfer market.

Reina has since struggled to find consistent form at Villa Park, sharing the keeper role with Orjan Nyland, who has impressed when given the chance in his three league games.

Heaton, who will be eagerly anticipating a return to first team action, has been forced to watch from the stands as his teammates attempt to keep Villa in the Premier League.

Sitting 19th in the league standings at present, fans of the club have been engaging with various social media account on their side as the recent pandemic continues to postpone fixtures.
