Aston Villa: Fans discuss Wesley’s debut season - Aston Villa

Many Aston Villa fans have taken part in a social media debate that has asked the question if striker Wesley is overrated or underrated.

The Brazilian arrived at Villa Park last summer to bolster Dean Smith’s attacking options, moving on a deal worth £22m from Belgian side Club Brugge.

Having played consistently well in Belgium, the 23-year-old did initially find English football hard to adapt too, before finding form which saw him net six goals in 22 appearances, prior to him being ruled out for the remainder of the season with injury.

His absence has proved costly for Villa, leading to Smith looking into the January transfer window to bring in a new striker, something he did with Mbwana Samatta.

With Villa’s Premier League future very much hanging in the balance, Wesley’s future at the club could well be too, with the Brazilian international undoubtedly keen to remain in top flight football.

Looking into his debut season in a Claret and Blue shirt, fans have given their verdict on his ability via fan account @VillaTilliDie, with a couple suggesting he is very much underrated.
