Aston Villa have needed to make some signings this month to avoid being pulled back down to the Championship. The Mail Online have reported that they’re “close” to pushing through a deal for Genk striker Ally Samatta. The story says he could sign in a matter of days, and fans are very excited about the idea of adding more firepower.
With Wesley out for the rest of the season, signing a striker will be key to their survival. Samatta has scored seven goals from 20 games in the Belgian top division, but even more impressive is the fact he’s netted three times from six games in the Champions League. The Tanzanian international is rated at £10.8m on Transfermarkt.
The deal is believed to be worth less than that valuation though, with £8.5m being talked about by the Mail. They say issues over a work permit will mean he probably won’t be ready to play against Brighton at the weekend, but fans reacted with excitement when Villa Report shared the news on Twitter.
