Aston Villa: Fans fume at Dean Smith after defeat to Leicester

Aston Villa’s return to the Premier League hasn’t been as successful as their fans may have been expecting.
They spent big in the summer, bringing in the likes of Wesley, Trezeguet, Douglas Luiz and Marvelous Nakamba to bolster their ranks (via Transfermarkt).
However, after 16 games, Villa are only above the relegation zone on goal difference after a humbling defeat at the hands of Leicester City.
They’ve won just one of their last seven league games, but have lost to Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City in that time.
Their poor form has left manager Dean Smith open for criticism.
Villa haven’t struggled to score, but keeping them out has been an issue; they’ve conceded 28 goals in 16 games so far this term, only the bottom three and Burnley have shipped more at the back.
December promises to be a crucial month for Smith’s men, as they face all three of the teams currently below them in the Premier League table.
After a crushing defeat to high-flying Leicester, here’s how some fans reacted to the team’s performance, as well as Smith’s role in their position:
#avfc Dean Smith is the most overrated manager we have ever had

Dean smiths fault 💯%, doesn’t change tactics or formation. Same style every week. Only swaps players who are injured. Too scared to drop Wesley or try him with kodjia. And his substitutions always seem bizzare. 2nd half villa just fall apart.

I like Dean Smith. He has done well. But today is unacceptable. We need to stick with them and not turn toxic. But he and the players need to start to earn their money. Sentiment will not keep us up.

Been saying this for weeks now – I’m very concerned about our chances of staying up. Yes, some days we look good, but a decent performance every 5 weeks isn’t enough.
As much as my heart likes Dean Smith, my head says we need to start questioning whether he’s up to it…

Dean smith got it wrong today, how Elmo stayed on the pitch after that performance I’ll never know, him and el ghazi is suicidal, he should of left jack on the wing and out trez on the right instead and took Em ghazi off

Simple really, Dean Smith will continue to find excuses until he is relieved of his head coach duties and hopefully that will not be too long.

Dean smith is to blame…

Dean Smith got it badly wrong today. Wesley is atrocious and unless a striker is signed in January there’s a good chance we go down. Pathetic effort today. Mings needs dropping too even if he’s fit for the next game.
