Aston Villa secured a 1-1 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, keeping their Carabao Cup semi-final alive.
The teams will return to Villa Park later in the month, with the winner facing one of the Manchester sides in the final at Wembley.
It was a smash and grab effort from Dean Smith’s men, who had just 31% possession and only three shots.
Indeed, perhaps given their struggles in the Premier League, a cup run has been a welcome break for the fans, with a trip to the capital not of the question after a positive first-leg.
However, one player who failed to impress the Villa faithful in the draw with the Foxes was Douglas Luiz.
The cup semi-final was his 23rd appearance of the season, but it certainly wasn’t among his best of the campaign. In fact, summer signing Luiz lost possession 14 times (Sofascore) against Brendan Rodgers’ side, and won just two of his 12 duels on the night.
As a result, Villa fans weren’t impressed, here’s how some of them reacted to his performance:
He’s shocking mate

He’s a total waste of space. Not good enough. I’m sure he’ll be great when we’re back down the championship and he gets a big money move somewhere after we have to sell him.

And atm not a very good young player which is the point. He may develop but he costs us games atm

Luiz is young yes, he also costs us games, he gives the ball away far too often, gives away silly fouls and in my opinion is simply not good enough.
