‘Pleasure to watch’, ‘Brilliant’ – Aston Villa fans heap praise on duo following Preston success

Aston Villa supporters in the Transfer Tavern have been celebrating another victory for their side after seeing the Villans ease past Preston North End 2-0 on Wednesday night, a result which propelled the Midlands giants into the Championship play-off places.

Steve Bruce’s men went into their clash at Deepdale off the back of drawing 0-0 at bitter rivals Birmingham City on Sunday, but fell out of the top six following victories for Derby County and Middlesbrough on Tuesday. Yet the Villans leapfrogged both to go fifth last night thanks to first half goals from James Chester and Robert Snodgrass, thus securing a sixth victory in eight league matches for Villa, whilst also inflicting a third defeat in a row on Alex Neil’s Lilywhites.

Thus, our resident Villans fans have making a lot of noise in the Tavern in the last few hours after seeing Bruce’s side move to within six points of leaders Wolves, and they are already eagerly anticipating their team’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday as they seek to maintain their unbeaten home record.

Nonetheless, there has been plenty of reaction to Wednesday’s game from those lining up at the bar, and two men in particular have come in for much praise on Twitter for their efforts at Deepdale, namely centre-back John Terry and forward Keinan Davis.

36-year-old Terry made the move to Villa during the summer and has slowly but surely become an integral member of Bruce’s starting eleven, which was highlighted by another commanding performance on Wednesday, while 19-year-old Davis has been a shining light this term and again proved his worth with an excellent display against Preston.

And several Villa supporters took to Twitter to laud the duo for their exploits in Lancashire on Wednesday…
