Aston Villa have confirmed that captain Jack Grealish will return to first team training this week (via avfc.co.uk).
The 24-year-old has been missing with a calf injury, which kept him out of their last two Premier League fixtures against Liverpool and Wolves respectively (Transfermarkt).
Is Wesley an upgrade on Tammy Abraham?
Prior to that he had been a regular for the Villans and was in good form. Indeed, he had started each of their first 10 league outings, scoring two goals and providing three assists (Transfermarkt).
The club also confirmed that Matt Targett will be back in training at the end of the week too, after being withdrawn against Wolves due to concussion (avfc.co.uk).
Grealish returning is obviously good news for Aston Villa and manager Dean Smith, who will hope that he is fit enough to face Newcastle United in their first game following the international break.
However, some Villa fans are sceptical that the former Notts County loanee will actually make it back into training this week.
That is because the club made a similar announcement last week (avfc.co.uk), but he failed to regain fitness in time for their fixture at Molineux.
Here is how some supporters have reacted to the news…
He’s had more comebacks than Elvis the last few weeks
