Aston Villa’s search for a new striker looks to have taken them to Brighton’s Glenn Murray, and that has not impressed fans.
According to Guardian journalist Ed Aarons, the Midlands club are looking at a six-month loan deal for the Englishman as they attempt to bolster their options up front.
Is Olivier Giroud your dream January signing?
Murray, 36, has fallen behind Neal Maupay in the pecking order at the Amex this season, starting just three Premier League games, so he could very well be available for transfer.
Some Villa fans, however, have made it clear that they do not want the former Bournemouth man at Villa Park. And what could possibly add insult to injury is the fact that seven-goal Maupay, who has ousted Murray out of Brighton’s starting XI, was once a Villa target himself. The 23-year-old has made 14 more league starts than his rival.
Comparing him to former flop Grant Holt, who scored just one goal during his time with the club, it is fair to say that these fans are firmly against Murray joining:

He’s 36 years old. Hasn’t scored a single goal this season for Brighton despite 3 starts and 10 sub apperances. I dont think he’d fit our system as he can’t hold the ball. Brighton also have no reason to loan him out to us as a relegation rival. #avfc
