Aston Villa fans on Twitter believe Brendan Rodgers fits the bill

The news has broken this morning and last night that Thierry Henry won’t be taking the Aston Villa job. A number of sources have come out with this, including TalkSPORT, who broke the news through Harry Redknapp last night. However, the Villains are now looking to Brendan Rodgers for the vacant position and have taken to Twitter to call for his appointment.
Brendan Rodgers has mostly had success wherever he’s been and recently his Celtic side have been the dominant force in Scottish football. Despite a shaky start to the current season, The Hoops are still favourites for the Scottish Premier League title and dispatched St Johnstone 6-0 in their own backyard on Sunday. That result could have been one of Rodgers last though, as the Villa jobs looms and if he’s offered it, he could make his return to English football.
Previously, Rodgers has managed both Swansea City and Liverpool in the Premier League and after getting The Swans promoted from the Championship and backing it up with an 11th placed finish in their debut Premier League season. Then, after taking the Liverpool job, Rodgers came so close to winning The Reds maiden Premier League title in the 2013/14 season. If the Northern Irishman did make the move from Glasgow to Birmingham there would be plenty of excited Villa fans, and it’s easy to see why.
You can read The Villains’ verdict on Rodgers here:
My favourite for the position is Rodgers. Simply because he has mostly succeeded wherever he has gone and he has been at bigger clubs with bigger expectations. Villa wont scare him.

I too think he should be considered, he could be our Graham Taylor of the modern football era. Ticks so many boxes but I think he's too obvious for those at Villa making the decisions. Henry's ship has sailed so move on &Rodgers ego is happy at Celtic.

That’s that, then. Brendan Rodgers is the best man for the job now, all things considered, IMO. An obvious shout but he ticks all the boxes. #AVFC https://t.co/akwsLEyHIF

Rodgers the clear standout. But most #avfc would take anyone that will coach the players into a system and improve them, implement the youth. The previous manager failed massively at that.

Rodgers or Dean Smith are the most common sense candidates

The Villa Park faithful seem to be keen to get Rodgers in and they’ll be hoping that their board can work on bringing him to the club before their clash with Swansea City on October 20th.
