Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been hit with a harsh reality after their recent incredible form as they seem almost guaranteed to be in the playoffs come to the end of the season. However, with John McGinn on 13 bookings, Birmingham Live have documented how the Scottish midfielder could miss the entire playoff campaign should Villa hold out.

Aston Villa fans have been proudly lauding their midfield with the likes of Jack Grealish, Conor Hourihane and McGinn all doing a brilliant job at Villa Park. However, the Villains will feel a lot less confident about the playoffs if they have to manoeuvre them without their Scottish dynamo as the ex-Hibs workhorse glues everything together for Dean Smith’s side.
At the moment, Aston Villa fans have watched on as John McGinn has clocked up 13 bookings in the Championship this season, and if he makes it to 15 then he’ll be set to miss three games. Those three games can include the playoffs too, although if he manages to make it through the last four games without making it to 15 and he reaches the figure during the playoffs then the suspension won’t be handed out.

Rest him the next 2 and get Lansbury in

So we basically play him in every game until he gets a yellow then he’s rested till the play offs

Win the next two, confirm our play off spot and then rest him for the nothing games against Leeds and Norwich is surely the best idea?

Rest him till the last game of the season

We need him in the play offs…rest him for the next two games …and if we have got a play off place by then …just play him in the last game

He has to be picked until he picks up 1 more yellow, then send him on holiday til the play offs
— Terry Williams (@taw0267) April 14, 2019
Get play off sorted and rest him.

The Villains will do anything to have McGinn available for the playoffs should they get there, and will be a lot more confident of promotion with the Scottish midfielder available.
