Aston Villa fans on Twitter have hope of success after recent surge

With Dean Smith’s side now picking up form having won their last three games, the fans have seen their side rise up the table to 8th. The Villains are now just two points away from the top six and with a game to play on Saturday against Middlesbrough whilst both Derby and Bristol City have a week off, the Villains could move into the top six with a win.

After last season’s playoff final defeat, the Villains would do anything to have another trip to Wembley and if they can sneak into the top six after a late surge then the fans would be over the moon. It certainly won’t be easy, especially given the number of teams in the race at the moment, but given that they turned up at The City Ground last night and came away with the points, it’s hard to bet against them.

Things have really kicked into gear for the Villains as of late. Jack Grealish has returned from a lengthy injury absence, Kortney Hause and Tyrone Mings have forged a formidable partnership at the back and the goals have been coming more frequently from midfield. Villa Park could yet be set to host a playoff semi-final tie, and if Dean Smith can get his side into the top six then there is really no reason why they can’t go all the way this time.

You can read the Villains’ thoughts on their playoff chances here:

Aston Villa fans everywhere are desperate to make the top six and chance it in the playoffs, and it’s fair to say that Dean Smith would go down as a hero if he could do one better than Steve Bruce did last season.
