Aston Villa drew 3-3 at home to Preston night in what was one of the games of the season so far. However, before the game, underfire Villa manager Steve Bruce had a cabbage thrown at him, presumably by a disgruntled Aston Villa fan and the supporters have been making plenty of jokes about the bizarre incident.
Steve Bruce confirms a cabbage was thrown at him before the game. #avfc

Steve Bruce has done a good job at Villa Park. It may well be coming to the end of his tenure at the club but the fans shouldn’t let a poor ending ruin a good story and Bruce has done well for them. This season likely won’t see him finish as the Villains’ boss, especially after last night, but for the fans to be throwing cabbages at him and calling for his head seems like a bad way to end what has been a mostly enjoyable tenure. After the draw last night, though, Bruce will be lucky if it’s just cabbages being thrown at him next time.
Lats night the fans were given a rollercoaster of emotions against Preston at Villa Park. The Villains took a 2-0 lead into half-time before James Chester gave away a penalty and was given his marching orders, from there things went a pear-shaped. Preston went on to take a 3-2 lead until Yannick Bolasie stepped up off the bench to score his second goal for the club, equalising in the 91st-minute. The game wasn’t done there, though, as Glenn Whelan had a golden chance to win the game with a 96th-minute penalty, but couldn’t convert from 12 yards. The tension will be building on Bruce even more now and it would be no shock to see him leaving the club in the comings days.

Why did he need to confirm it? Or were you waiting to confirm it wasn’t a lettuce?

Please clarify if the rumours are true… did he eat it?

Any chance of that cabbage replacing Bruce as Manager.

Maybe it could take pens?!!

He’s waiting for the kebab meat to go with it

Apparently that was just the tip of the iceberg

Thrown at him? I’m sure he said “it was there or there abouts”

The Villains’ jokes about Bruce are all a bit harsh, although they’ll probably ease up on the 57-year-old and thank him for his services when he is finally relieved of his duty as the Villa boss.
