Aston Villa fans have been mostly pleased with Dean Smith since he took over the club from Steve Bruce, however, the Villains have been keen to see how the ex-Brentford man conducts himself in the transfer market. They’ll be delighted with Smith now, though, as they’ve been linked with a move for CJ Hamilton by the reliable journalist, Pete O’Rourke.

If you’re an Aston Villa fans then you can be forgiven for not knowing the name CJ Hamilton. The 23-year-old winger is in a position where he can perform without pressure at Mansfield Town. The club are sitting at the right end of the table in League Two, and with the impressive young winger scoring seven and assisting the same number of goals this season it’s no surprise that Villa are looking at him.
According to O’Rourke, Aston Villa aren’t alone in looking to bring in the youngster, and they will have to fight for him as West Bromwich Albion and Preston North End are also after the player. The Villains sent scouts to see the winger in action last night as Mansfield overcame Crawley 1-0 in League Two action, and it would be no surprise to see the winger signed up at Villa Park before the end of the window.

Glad we are now scouting instead of just buying names. A sign we are moving in the right direction.

Im a Villa fan from Mansfield and i went to the game last night, trust me this lad is quality cery pacey winger with an eye for goal. He would be a snip for less than a million.

Who cares if he isn’t well known? No one had even heard of Mcginn before he came to us? And look where buying big name players has got us . Let’s just trust smith and stop slating players before they have even came to us ffs

If these reports are true, really pleased our transfer strategy is looking to younger players in lower leagues, or those that won’t get a chance at their current club. Much better than ‘names’ that come in on £40-50k. Exactly the change in culture we need #avfc

People slating this are probably the same people moaning that Bolasie isn’t all that, make your minds up

A lot of Villa fans would love to see this one go through, and who can blame them with Hamilton looking like an exciting young prospect.
