Aston Villa fans on Twitter loved seeing Edens, Sawiris and Purslow in attendance yesterday

If it wasn’t for the financial support of Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, Aston Villa as a football club may not have been around today. The Villains were in huge financial trouble last summer when the duo swooped in, and yesterday saw them secure a playoff place in front of their saviours and chief executive Christian Purslow.
Our owners enjoyed a record-breaking visit to Villa Park this afternoon.

Aston Villa fans have a lot to thank Edens, Sawiris and Purslow for, and if the trio can see them return to the Premier League then they will go down as legends at Villa Park. Promotion to the Premier League is difficult to come by, and if they achieve it despite their playoff final heartbreak and financial woes from summer 2018 then it will be even more remarkable.
The win yesterday, 1-0 against Millwall, was a special one as it secured their top-six place, but it was also memorable as it was their first win in front of America-based Wes Edens. It was Eden’s second game at Villa Park having been there for the club’s 1-1 draw against Reading back in August. With the future looking bright for Villa, though, it should be the first of may wins in front of their saviours.

A huge thanks to these two wonderful gentlemen who not only saved us from near extinction but have overseen incredible change at the club – and all of that behind-the-scenes hard work done without making a fuss or claiming any glory or fame for themselves. Huge respect and thanks

The Villains couldn’t be more indebted to their co-owners Edens and Sawiris and will hope that promotion can be won this season via the playoffs.
