Aston Villa fans will have been fuming when their side fell to a 1-1 draw away at Deepdale, as they aimed to finish 2018 on a high with a win. That simply couldn’t happen though, and now the fans have been moaning about the result as it feels like two points dropped more than anything.
It finishes all square. A frantic, end-to-end final few moments doesn't produce a winner. Bjarnason came close twice, while a host of tremendous blocks and interceptions kept us level. We take a point in our final match of 2018.#PartOfThePride pic.twitter.com/nYRttjsLS9

Villa took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Tammy Abraham did what Tammy Abraham does, scoring his 14th Championship goal of the season. However, the lead lasted just over 15 minutes as Ahmed Elmohamady gifted the home side an equaliser when he scored an own goal with just under half an hour to play.
It was a game that the Villains will be quick to forget and they’ll be desperate to bounce back with a win now at home to QPR on New Years Day, especially considering the poor form they’ve shown over the festive period. Dean Smith’s side have won just one of their last four, drawing two and losing once, and getting all three points against QPR on Tuesday now looks more important than ever.
You can see what the Villains had to say about the Preston stalemate here:
Not really good enough if we want to be competitive

shocking again. Should be killing off teams like Preston.

Bunch of bottle jobs, we'll never get promoted if we keep dropping points whenever there's a chance to make ground on the top six

That's now 21 points dropped from winning positions

Not good enough!! 21 points dropped from winning positions this season now! Got to get better! Everyone else around us can grit a result out and yet we draw at Preston! Jokes

The Villains were far from happy with their draw at Deepdale and they’ll be keen to turn it around with a win at Villa Park against Steve McLaren’s QPR.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
