Aston Villa: Fans open to Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama joining on a free transfer

Several Aston Villa fans like the idea of Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama joining the club on a free transfer.
According to Nabil Djellit of France Football (via Birmingham Live), Spurs could be tempted to terminate his contract in order to trim down their wage bill, which could provide an opportunity for the Villans. The 28-year-old was reportedly a target for the Midlands outfit during the last transfer window and they could now have the chance to sign him for nothing if Tottenham do go on to cancel his contract.
And having failed to make a single start in the Premier League this term, such a development would not be a surprise. He did, however, manage to feature on 18 occasions during the 2017/18 campaign, where he averaged 1.7 tackles per game (via WhoScored).
Will Aston Villa's defence cost them their Premier League status?
Yes

No

With most of Villa’s midfielders averaging more this season and taking into account his injury record, though, perhaps Dean Smith would be better off looking elsewhere.
Still, for these Villa supporters, it is not a bad idea. Just take a look at what they have been saying below…
Yes definitely

If he’s fit (match fitness is not what I mean by that) 1000% we are missing that nasty able breakup play and keep it simple player. He would fit the bill nicely especially for free, for 6 months then option for x years if we stay up.
