Aston Villa fans have responded to a report linking them with a summer move for Croatian centre-back Domagoj Vida.
Dean Smith’s side sit 19th in the Premier League at present and will undoubtedly have their focus fully on keeping themselves in England’s top flight. However, despite Villa’s precarious position, links to new players are emerging, even with their footballing status up in the air.
Vida, who has been playing for Turkish Super Lig side Bestiktas, is said to be on Smith’s agenda, according to Turkiye via Sport Witness.
Do you think Aston Villa will stay up?
The 31-year-old defender, who is a Croatian international regular, is said to be enjoying life in Turkey, and has a current contract until 2022.
However, it is believed he is on a yearly wage of €3m and he is valued at just £5.85m via Transfermarkt, making a potential move affordable for the Midlands based side.
Reacting to the news via Twitter account @villareport, fans of the Claret and Blue gave their thoughts on Vida’s potential arrival, with one suggesting he could replace current centre-back Tyrone Mings…

If he is our top target, this summer is going to be massively underwhelming.

Last transfer window would’ve been nice

This isn’t the type of signing Smith would make tbh.

To replace Mings the fresh air marker.
