Aston Villa: Fans react negatively to West Brom transfer claims - Aston Villa

Aston Villa fans have reacted to a claim by former England international striker Kevin Phillips that West Bromwich Albion could potentially make a move for Tyrone Mings and John McGinn this summer.

Slaven Bilic’s side are edging closer and closer to promotion from the Championship, whilst Villa continue to sit in the relegation places in the Premier League.

Doubts over whether or not football will return this season after the latest pandemic do continue, however, and it is not yet known what the future holds for both sides.

Despite a standstill in football, former Baggies frontman Phillips has discussed a potential transfer move he believes his former club could make.

Mings arrived at Villa Park on a permanent deal from Bournemouth last summer and he has since gone to become a key member of the Claret and Blue side, gaining a call-up to the England national side.

Whilst McGinn, who is currently nursing an injury, has been in superb form for the 1982 European Cup winners, scoring three goals and providing two assists in 18 Premier League appearances (Transfermarkt).

Speaking to West Brom News, Phillips said that he believed Bilic would fight amongst other clubs for both Mings and McGinn if Villa suffered relegation.

Reacting to Phillips’ comments, Villa fans were obviously annoyed by the ex-strikers thoughts on the potential transfer business..
