Aston Villa: Fans react to Borja Baston exit talk

Aston Villa: Fans react to Borja Baston exit talk - Aston Villa

Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to talk of Borja Baston leaving the club for Real Zaragoza after playing just 16 minutes in total.

Baston has previously played for Zaragoza, having scored an impressive 22 goals during the 2013/2014 season, but his time in England and especially with Villa, has been somewhat disappointing.

The 27-year-old moved to Villa Park on a free transfer in February, but he has made just one appearance, coming on against Tottenham Hotspur for a total of 16 minutes.

Formerly of Swansea City, Baston signed a six month deal with Villa but he is expected to be allowed to leave on a free this summer, prompting interest from his former club, as initially reported by Spanish daily AS.

The potential deal could depend on Zaragoza’s future with the La Romareda club looking to secure promotion to the Spanish top flight this season.

Sitting second in the Segunda table behind league leaders Cadiz, the club are hoping to maintain their promotion form when football returns after the pandemic.

Loads of Villa fans have been reacting to a tweet @villareport about Baston’s future, with one suggesting that signing him in the first place seems like a Suso signing that was done above manager Dean Smith’s head.
