Loads of Aston Villa fans reacted to the news the Claret and Blue are holding talks with players over possible wage reductions due to the ongoing pandemic, according to an exclusive via The Telegraph.
Midlands football reporter John Percy revealed the board will not be furloughing any staff in light of recent events.
Club officials have opened up dialogue with Dean Smith’s leadership group, which includes Jack Grealish, Tyrone Mings, Tom Heaton, on-loan defender James Chester, and Neil Taylor, and a decision is likely to be made towards the end of April.
Once football came to a premature halt as a result of the nationwide lockdown, Smith’s side have found themselves at the bottom end of the Premier League table, with their future in the English top flight in the balance. They are currently in 19th place, 2 points behind Bournemouth, Watford and West Ham United, but with a game in hand over their relegation rivals.
Predictably, plenty of the AVFC faithful responded to the journalist’s update on Twitter, with one supporter calling the announcement “class.” Another commented “Neil [Taylor] runs the locker room.”
After arriving at Villa Park from Swansea City in January 2017, the Welsh international has made 10 appearances in the league this season, averaging 1.1 tackles per game, and making 2 clearances on average so far (WhoScored).

He’s massive in the dressing room. Don’t forget he’s older than most and an experienced international. 🙂
