Many Aston Villa fans are debating Dean Smith and his future at the club after a report from journalist John Percy has stated that the Villa manager is fighting for his future at the club.
Smith took over at Aston Villa halfway through the Championship season last year in October. Indeed, after a difficult start with the club he supports, he then went on a ten-game win streak from March to April which put Villa in the playoffs, where they eventually beat Fulham at Wembley in the final.
However, his time in the Premier League has been quite the contrast, with Villa sitting in 19th battling to stay in the top division.
Fan opinion is currently split, as some want to see him leave, whilst others would prefer he stays judging by the responses below. The club face Chelsea this weekend which is followed by fixtures against Wolves, Liverpool and Manchester United, so certainly looks like a difficult run of fixtures.
Is Jack Grealish definitely leaving Aston Villa in 2020?
With that in mind, here is what fans are saying about Dean Smith after the latest reports:

I’d give him more time as had near impossible task of overhauling an entire squad on a relatively small budget. But I am worried how he’s failed to get the right midfield balance all year. Seen us overrun time and time again. #avfc

100% agree. He comes across as very arrogant and stubborn. I’d give JT a go at managing the team and making tactical decisions – can’t be any worse.
I do think JT would flourish as manager rather than assistant. He’s a leader not a silent partner.

Too late now should have gone before Christmas the writing has been on the wall since then. Hope we survive but after Monday’s showing very much doubt it

Devastated if this happens. Not saying it shouldn’t as results have been poor but the unity in the club since Dean came in is something that’s been missing since MON. One of our own in charge is very special, I’d love it to work. Really hope the players fight for him on Saturday

Think it would be for the best. Don’t think he is a PL manager unfortunately.

Agreed no one to bring in and it’s too late in the prem now, hes the man for the job in the championship

Deano will always have a place in our hearts, he knows that whatever happens, he gave us memories that we’ll never forget and live on, but right now all that matters is Villa, nothing personal if he does go we have to go all out for Rafa imo at least try and sell him the project
