Aston Villa: Fans react to recent transfer reports suggesting club have bid for Maxime Lopez

Aston Villa have submitted a €10 million (£8.8 million) bid for Marseille midfielder Maxime Lopez, that is according to a report from Italian outlet AreaNapoli (via Sport Witness).
It is also suggested that several other clubs are keen on securing his services, with their Premier League rivals West Ham, La Liga outfit Sevilla and Serie A’s Napoli also linked.
Whilst the Villans are thought to have already made an offer for the 22-year-old, it could be that it is rebuffed with the report claiming that Marseille will want €20 million.
Lopez is primarily an attacking midfielder, but in 146 appearances for the French club he has managed to score just five goals, although he has racked up a more impressive total of 21 assists in that time (Transfermarkt).
It is possible that Villa could see him as a potential replacement for Jack Grealish, who is their current primary playmaker. Indeed the 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the West Midlands at the end of the season, with Manchester United thought to be extremely keen on taking him to Old Trafford (Birmingham Mail). If he were to go then they would certainly need a new creative minded midfielder, which is where Lopez may fit in.
Quite a few of the club’s supporters have been reacting to the transfer report, with most having differing opinions on it. Here is what some had to say…
Rather get Morgan Sanson if we’re going for a Marseille player. Amavi still available too. But this kid is a bench warmer for Marseille why would he start for us?
