Aston Villa: Fans react to eye-opening Wesley interview

Aston Villa’s return to the Premier League hasn’t quite what fans had been expecting.
Would you like to see Aston Villa sign a new striker in January?
Yes please

Stick with Wesley

They’ve been on a run of just one win in their last eight games; they’re now only above the relegation zone on goal difference.
Despite this, Villa have the best-attacking record of any side in the bottom half of the table, scoring 23 goals in their 17 games.
However, they have struggled for goals from their striker.
Since Wesley arrived from Club Brugge in the summer, he’s started every league game, but has scored just four times.
His last goal came in the win over Norwich in early October, he’s played over 800 minutes of league football since without finding the back of the net.
His poor form has attracted criticism from fans, but a recent interview revealed the struggles of his childhood, which did garner some sympathy from the supporters.
Here’s how some of them reacted to it:
This kid is fighter, let’s get behind him in the next few games. I honestly feel he has something special and can be crucial this year, you don’t get a Brazil call-up unless you’ve got something to offer. #avfc https://t.co/Iv9lXFVQ3K

Whether you’re for or against Wes, this man has overcome more adversity in his life than most ever will.
If you think a few fans on twitter and a couple boos are going to stop him, think otherwise.
Regardless of if/if we’re not playing him right atm, you have to back the man❤️

I think itโs time for us fans to cut him some slack and really get behind him, the lads been through a lot fans easily forget that when things arenโt going too well on the pitch. #utv
