Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted after hearing positive transfer news, however, they will need to ensure they are playing in the Premier League next season.
The Villans are performing well in the Championship and are on course for at least a playoff spot, although Steve Bruce will be hoping they can make a late charge towards an automatic place. Sam Johnstone has been crucial to the Villa Park outfit’s efforts during the campaign, making a number of key saves and it is believed should he help them get into the top-flight, he would be willing to make his stay permanent.
The Daily Mail are claiming the Manchester United loanee would prefer to remain playing first-team football and it is doubtful, at best, that he will get those chances at Old Trafford. The Red Devils decided to trigger a one-year extension on his contract, which would then see Villa have to pay around £5million to make a permanent switch.
The Villa locals in the Tavern will be delighted with the news that Johnstone is keen to extend his stay at Villa Park beyond the end of his loan deal, although that they rest on whether the club can secure Premier League football next season. The 25-year-old has been one of their standout stars and punters will be looking for the club to do everything they can to get a deal done.
