Aston Villa: Fans remember Agbonlahor’s Birmingham derby strike

Many Aston Villa fans have looked back at Gabby Agbonlahor’s strike against Birmingham City in 2017, which was three years ago this week.
With football at a standstill due to the recent pandemic, clubs are opting to use social media to engage with fans and share some historic footage.
Villa, who currently sit 19th in the Premier League standings, shared via their official Twitter account highlights from the 1-0 win over rivals Birmingham from 2017.
The victory came after Villa hero Agbonlahor scored his first goal in 14 months to ruin Harry Redknapp’s first game in charge of the Blues.
Former England international Agbonlahor profited after a scramble in the six-yard box before turning sharply to score the winner with just over 20 minutes remaining.
Agbonlahor spent a total of 13 years at Villa Park, starting his career with the Claret and Blue in 2005.
Born in Birmingham, the former striker is now retired from the game, but remains an avid fan of the club.
Reacting to Villa’s official Twitter account sharing the goal, fans shared their responses:
