Aston Villa: Fans respond to former centre-back’s comments - Aston Villa

Many Aston Villa fans have responded to a tweet which shared a comment from former defender Martin Laursen on his love for the club, whilst he also admitted he would consider taking a coaching role at Villa Park.

After a lengthy career in Italian football with the likes of Hellas Verona, Parma and AC Milan, Laursen made a move towards the end of this playing days to Villa, signing in 2004 for a fee of £3m.

Captaining the side between 2008 and 2009, the former Denmark international made 84 Premier League appearances during his time at Villa Park.

Calling time to his playing career in 2009 and departing the Midlands, Laursen instantly began obtaining his coaching badges, which saw him spend time as a manager of BK Søllerød-Vedbæk.

That coaching experience has now opened up a potential future role and his latest comments have excited Villa fans, who would welcome the former defender back to the club.

The former Villa Supporters Player of the Year’s comments also follow a recent interview where he revealed his love for the club.

Reacting to the tweet via @astonforza, fans responded with nothing but admiration for the Dane, whilst one admitted that they would happily let John Terry go to create space for Laursen on the coaching staff…
