Aston Villa: Fans respond to Wes Edens’ top-four claims

Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to claims made by majority shareholder Wes Edens that he is growing ‘impatient’ and wants the club to push the top-four in the Premier League.
Villa currently sit 19th in England’s top flight after a relatively poor and inconsistent season, meaning relegation remains a possibility.
Dean Smith’s side did reach the League Cup final earlier this year, losing to Manchester City, but that cup run has not seen an improvement in the league, leaving Villa fans feeling very nervous over the recent break from football due to the pandemic.
Majority shareholder Edens took over the Claret and Blue back in 2018 alongside Nassef Sawiris, and his recent comments about his plans to make Villa a ‘top-four’ side have prompted quite a response from fans.
Villa, who secured promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs last season, have a lot to do when and if, football returns this season, and it does seem like a top-four position is a long way off.
Edens, who also owns the Milwaukee Bucks, will certainly be under pressure to deliver in the summer transfer window should the club remain in the Premier League.
Reacting to the news via Twitter account @AVFC_News, Villa fans gave a rather subdued responses:

Get rid of Smith then, going nowhere but down with him

Love his ambition but I feel we need to address our recruitment. Some of our signings this season are not at the required standard.

I remember a certain Chinese man having a similar time frame for top 4 finish #AVFC

Hope his patience doesn’t run out then. We are probably a decade away at best.
