Aston Villa fans should be fuming at these two players for a shocking weekend

Well, after what promised to be a positive start for new Aston Villa boss Dean Smith, things have gotten dramatically worse.

A 1-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers, following the midweek 2-1 defeat at Norwich, is everything the club did not need in their attempts to climb back up to the table. Which is arguably where they belong with such a strong side and rich footballing history.

Very few positives can be taken from the team’s performances as they were completely underdone by a QPR side who are now pushing for a promotion place.

Late pressure in the second half reminded Villa fans of what their team are capable of when they’re actually playing some attacking emphasis. However, it was a case of too little too late for the Midlands side who failed to secure the all-important goal to bring things level.

It must be said that no one player turned up on the day, however there were a few who were particularly bad and warrant further scrutiny…

James Chester

Definitely one to forget for the Welsh international who put in one of the worst defensive performances so far this season.

He looked completely lost at the back at times and really struggled to keep up with the pace of the game.

QPR’s long ball game exploited his weaknesses and eventually culminated in Wszolek match-winning goal.

Ahmed Elmohamady

Way off his usual standard on Friday, and failed to provide in the one area of his game that really stands out, crossing.

Another poor defensive performance in the lineup, he showed absolutely no conviction and continually invited pressure throughout the time he was on the pitch.

His first-half performance was basically non-existent, and his woes continued into the second-half. Following a wayward ball he catapulted high and wide over the box, Smith ended his misery and substituted on Bolasie.
