Whilst the 2-1 defeat to Fulham will have angered some sections of the Aston Villa faithful, perhaps many more of them will have been infuriated with the display of Jonathan Kodjia out on the pitch.
As did some of his team-mates, the Ivorian was given an opportunity to showcase what he could offer Dean Smith’s side in the FA Cup meeting and try and throw his hat into the ring for more regular minutes.
The 30-year-old has found regular game time extremely difficult to find, having managed just 314 minutes in senior football this season across nine appearances (per TransferMarkt).
However, it would appear many of the Aston Villa faithful would be happy if Kodjia was not seen on the pitch in a long time, judging by their reactions on Twitter.
Some of the fans stated that the Ivorian failed to add anything to the side, whilst others mentioned that they hope he will be moved on in the near future.
Here are just some of their reactions to his most recent performance…
What’s more disappointing about today’s result is that out fringe players do not seem to be doing enough or care about getting regular games. Lansbury, Kodjia, Jota, not good enough. Let’s hope for some good signings in the transfer window #UTV #AVFC

Kodjia and Lansbury need to leave they aren’t good enough against Fulham with many injuries let alone PL level

Kodjia needs to go, sooner the better.

I had us down to lose 3-0 before the game. Always thought this would be a throwaway. Though Nyland played well, kept us in it. Kodjia had the worst game he’s had in a Villa shirt. None of them did themselves any favours in terms of getting into the first team. #AVFC

Well, that was poor. We have to do better than Kodjia. He is the laziest forward I can remember. Hate being down on players (except mings of course ) but he’s not fit to wear the shirt. #AVFC

Unfortunately I don’t think we have any option but Kodjia for Wednesday. His lazy work rate is unforgivable, can’t even get himself onside most times! I don’t ever like to slate any villa player but if they don’t but the effort in then they are not entitled to wear the shirt!
