Regular action for Jota may have been a little hard to come by this season, however his performance against Fulham do not appear to have given his chances of increasing his opportunities judging by some Aston Villa fans on Twitter.
The Spaniard was brought to the club in the summer when Dean Smith was busy reshaping the club but he has had to be patient as he has been limited to just 12 appearances across all competitions (as per TransferMarkt).
Indeed, the Villans made a number of changes for the encounter with Fulham but it did not appear to pay off as they were on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat to the Championship outfit.
However, Jota’s name appeared to feature rather prominently on Twitter throughout the game and after the final whistle and it did not make for pretty reading.
Many of the Villa faithful slammed the £4.05m-rated winger for his showing, with some stating that he simply was not good enough and did not deserve to play any more than he had previously.
Here are just some of their reactions…
Lansbury, Hourihane, Taylor, Jota all nowhere near good enough to play for us #avfc

And Jota is probably the worst player I have ever seen…

Yeah I’m starting to think that, it’s a hard one with him time will tell if he can step up with more experience has played well in certain games but for me today Lansbury, kodjia and Jota are the three that simply aren’t good enough for me need to be shipped out

Jota is poor too lightweight
Kodja -poor decision making
Hourihane only plays the ball sideways or back.
Lansbury needs to be holding midfielder.
Elmo getting worse over the years
Alghazi-not good enough
Will be a different game on wednesday with first X1

That team wasn’t our U23s or reserves, it was full of players that are in and around the 1st team.I’m sorry but that was embarrassing
Yes we’re better off out the cup but that was Pathetic Aston Villa #avfc

Nakamba, Jota, Lansbury, Kodija, Trez, El Ghazi all need flogging and fast #avfc

a lot of fringe players failed to push themselves into first team contention, lethargic and looked like they couldn’t be bothered. Lansbury, jota, Kodja all need to go, nakamba isn’t up to the standard right now I’d loan him out, probably in the summer. #AVFC

Happy to be out of this cup but so many bad performances today, Jota should never ever play for anyone ever again! #AVFC

Glad were out tbh! Jota,Lansbury, Kodjia are all shocking! Chester is miles off it! Never premier league players. As for Nyland get a Keeper in #avfc
