Aston Villa: Fans were buzzing after seeing Mbwana Samatta in Carabao Cup line-up
Loads of Aston Villa fans were delighted to see Mbwana Samatta included in the starting XI for the 2-1 (3-2 agg) Carabao Cup semi-final win over Leicester City last night.
The new signing from Genk was making his debut for the club after getting the nod from Dean Smith, and supporters were happy to see him make his bow. Samatta was unable to grab that dream goal on his first appearance for his new side, but there were some promising signs.
As highlighted by Birmingham Live, who gave him a match rating of 7/10, the 27-year-old took some good touches and managed to get himself in a very good goalscoring position, though he was unable to capitalise on it. The most important thing, though, is that Villa were able to get the job done in the second leg of the tie, with Samatta certainly playing his part.
Next up for the Villans is a huge clash against relegation rivals Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
