Aston Villa: Fans will give Steve Bruce a good reception when they face Newcastle

Several Aston Villa fans have admitted that they will give Steve Bruce a good reception when he returns to Villa Park for the first time on Monday.
The 58-year-old is now in charge of Newcastle United, who are set to take on the Villans in a big game in the bottom half of the Premier League.
He was previously the Aston Villa boss, but he endured lots of criticism during the final few months of his tenure in the West Midlands and even had a cabbage thrown at him during a game by one of their fans (Birmingham Mail).
In the end, he was sacked by the club after winning just one of his last nine games in charge (BBC Sport).
Despite the negativity surrounding him during the final weeks of his time at Villa Park, plenty of fans have suggested that there were also good times whilst he was in charge and because of that they will applaud him when he returns with Newcastle.
Indeed, Bruce did guide Villa to a Championship play-off final (BBC Sport), whilst he was also responsible for bringing the likes of John McGinn and Anwar El Ghazi to the club.
Here is how some Villa supporters responded when asked how they would greet Bruce on Monday…
I will be clapping him. Villa was a toxic place and he got the feel good factor back. There was a disconnect between the fans and players, he brought in big characters like of Terry, Snodgrass, etc who the fans loved. We wouldn’t be back in the PL without him imo

Clap him, he took us to the brink of promotion. I don’t think Grealish would be as good if Bruce didn’t put his arm around him and get his head onto the game. He was a good manager that got replaced by an even better one

A bad finish with us, and he’s a clown, BUT he signed Anwar, Axel twice and Tammy (even if on loan), John McGinn, Conor, JT, Elmo, even the likes of Johnstone, Snodgrass and Whelo. Maybe played most of them out of position, but he played a part in getting them in.

Clap him. He helped save a sinking ship & turn toxic atmosphere to positive. Also worked whilst going through terrible personal times. Didn’t work out for him & we’ve all moved on thankfully #AVFC

Clap him, lets show some class. It didn’t work out but he didn’t do it on purpose, bringing in JT alone is worth around of applause 👍🏻

I don’t like the man & I don’t like his football, but he picked us up in one of our darkest periods, gave us some stability, signed some very good players, & stuck at it through very dark personal times. He has my eternal gratitude, my respect & my applause

clap him. anything else would be distinctly classless. hes a thoroughly good man Steve Bruce who did a great job. settled the club, got us moving forward again and just fell short while going through awful personal loss.
That he kind of lost his way at the end is forgivable.
