Orjan Nyland’s goalkeeping at Aston Villa has become a concern for the Championship club.
A full international with Norway, having earned himself 27 caps, the shot-stopper has hardly been convincing between the sticks.
In his 18 Championship appearances so far, the 28-year-old has conceded 26 goals and it appears as though Dean Smith is considering to bring in a replacement in January to keep their promotion hopes alive.
The experienced ‘keeper has slipped down the pecking order at the Premier League side this season and is believed to be available in the January transfer window.
The 32-year-old, who has been capped by England on three occasions, is currently deemed surplus to requirements at Turf Moor, although Villa will likely need to put up a transfer fee to land him.
Heaton would be a great addition to Aston Villa in the winter and would certainly help to build some confidence in the goalkeeper position.
The arrival of the 32-year-old would be considered an upgrade on their current options and could be the difference to helping them get into the playoffs, or the automatic spots if they continued their fine form throughout the rest of the season.
Nyland just has not been able to be convincing on a consistent basis since his summer move and has received plenty of criticism for his performances, leaving Smith no choice but to act in January.
