Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has revealed the one player he played against who he felt was 'overrated'.

Former Villa man Agbonlahor made 391 appearances in a Claret and Blue shirt before calling time on his playing career last March.

Having played a large part in the Midlands based club's Premier League years and in the Championship, the Birmingham born striker came up against some of the best defenders to have played in English football.

Gary Neville, who played for Manchester United during the Red Devils' dominant years, was one of those.

Now a pundit for Sky Sports, Neville made 598 appearances for United, winning the Premier League 12 times before retiring in 2011 and Agbonlahor has now revealed that he feels he was the most 'overrated' player he came up against.

Speaking on ThreeSixtyTV's podcastVilla icon Agbonlahor opened up on a number of topics before touching on his games against Neville.

"Played against? Overrated," asked Gabby, speaking to host Fuad Cadani, before pausing.

"You know what? I'd say Gary Neville. Whenever I played against United, I always targeted his side of the pitch on purpose.

"Basically, because Rio was so good, I'd always run to Neville. You know what I mean? In that defence, Neville's the one I'm going to pick on.

"He could never handle that stop and turn. He couldn't handle it. Hopefully he sees this!"

Big comments from Agbonlahor given that Neville played for United during their most successful years, but the Villa man did seem to always perform well against some of the Premier League's better teams. Indeed, he scored four goals and provided two assists against United in his career, whilst also netting five against their local rivals Manchester City (Transfermarkt).
