Aston Villa handed big boost as 29-year-old is available for Middlesbrough clash

Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern will be hoping that their side can secure promotion via the play-offs, as they threw away a promising position earlier on in the season.

The Villains will be looking to inflict defeat on Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough side later on today, as Villa will travel to the Riverside Stadium for the first leg of the Championship play-offs. And, many of our local residents received a big boost prior to kick-off, as according to Aston Villa’s official Twitter account, Birkir Bjarnason is fit and available.

Encouragingly, Aston Villa will feel extremely confident as they head into one of the most important games in their recent history, having won three of their last five Championship fixtures.

And, the Midlands club will be able to welcome a player back into their squad tomorrow, as Birkir Bjarnason is fit and available after recovering from a back injury.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Interestingly, Birkir Bjarnason has been rather impressive at times during the second half of the season, as he has popped up with a number of goals at key moments in their push for promotion. So, with a tough Boro side up next in the Championship play-offs, Villa may look to kill the game off by bringing the Icelandic international onto the field towards the end of the match.
