Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern are desperate for their side to challenge for automatic promotion, after beating Cardiff City last time out in the Championship.
Interestingly, the Villains can still secure an automatic promotion place if they win all of their remaining games, but this would all depend on other results going their way from here on in until the end of the season. And, it doesn’t look as if it’s going to get any easier as many of our local residents received some negative news prior to kick-off tonight, as according to BBC Sport’s pre-match team news, John Terry is set to miss out through injury.
John Terry has turned out to be one of the best signings that the club has ever made as he continues to lead by example, with their quest for promotion being dependent on how well he performs in the side.
Although, they may struggle to grind out positive results in their upcoming run of fixtures, as the 37-year-old is set to miss Villa’s match against Leeds United tonight after picking up an ankle injury against Norwich City.
Indeed, Leeds will travel to Villa Park with a point to prove after losing rather convincingly to Preston North End last time out, so John Terry’s absence could prove to be huge if they are to suffer defeat.
Aston Villa will be bitterly disappointed to see John Terry out of the side for a second successive Championship fixture, as he’s been crucial in their push for promotion so far this season. However, they’ll do their best to deal with a frustrating situation, as three points could help them gather some much-needed momentum at this stage in their season.
