Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern could be raising a pint to a club legend at the end of the season as he looks to depart Villa Park at the end of the campaign, regardless of where they finish in the Championship.
The Telegraph is reporting that Gabriel Agbonlahor will end his 17-year association with the Villans, as it is unlikely his contract will be extended.
The striker has failed to replicate any of his goalscoring exploits that made him the club’s Premier League leading scorer since being in the Championship and it is believed the former England international could be one of the first to leave. As you can imagine, while there have been some good memories, our punters clad in claret and blue aren’t too fussed about seeing him leave.
Aston Villa has been adamant that no decision on the futures of their players have already been decided, but the newspaper is claiming that sources close to the attacker believe he is on his way out, whilst it is believed the 31-year-old is looking at the MLS as a potential new home.
Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern will have mixed emotions about the departure of Agbonlahor, with him being a loyal servant to his boyhood club, however, he has failed to make an appearance for Steve Bruce’s side since December 23 and a move to the MLS could be what’s need to kick his career back into shape.
A career that fizzled out, it’s s shame he’ll never get the send off he once looked like he deserved.
Aston Villa fans, will you be sad to see him leave? Let us know below!
