Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern cannot wait for next season now with this year pretty much a write-off by this point.
The play-offs are out of reach for sure, now, and all they can do is try to finish as high up the table as possible after a poor run of form earlier on in 2017.
Indeed, they’ll be keen to get away from the relegation battle as quickly as possible, too, before embarking on what has to be a better year next season.
With someone like Steve Bruce in charge, that shouldn’t be too much to expect, either, and what he does in the summer will surely temper predictions ahead of 2017/18.
Villa have spent a lot of money already in trying to go up and it hasn’t quite worked out so it appears – as The Birmingham Mail reports on Keith Wyness’ words with BBC WM – the club will change their approach in the summer window.
Chief executive Wyness revealed:
“The summer is going to be relatively quiet. There will be ins and outs but nowhere near as many as we have seen in the last two windows.”
A change in approach, then, and only time will tell if it works out for the club.
