Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish has carried the ball further than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues, according to SB Nation Soccer writer John Townley.
Grealish has arguably had his best season in a Claret and Blue shirt, contributing with seven goals and six assists during this term as club captain.
Whilst Villa’s Premier League form has not been consistent, the former England U21 international has been, and his performances on the pitch have sparked interest from a number of English clubs, including Manchester United and Everton.
With the Midlands club’s top flight status hanging in the balance at present, Grealish will no doubt have his thoughts on helping Villa remain in the Premier League, before any potential offers from clubs arrive on the table.
Looking deeper into Grealish’s impressive season, Townley, who writes regularly about Dean Smith’s side, also revealed that the 24-year-old has been fouled more times this term than any other player in any previous season, despite the campaign not even being complete.
Loads of fans reacted to Townley’s tweet on Grealish’s statistics, with one suggesting that they were “fascinating”:
No player in Europe’s top 5 leagues has carried the ball further than #AVFC’s Jack Grealish this season (11,751 yards).
Grealish has also been fouled 127 times – the most in a Premier League season since the data was recorded despite playing only 70% of the campaign. pic.twitter.com/WxEiJ3cgPE

He’s carried our team for 70 percent of the campaign

Just imagine how far he would have carried had he not been fouled. Who is 2nd and how far have they carried?
