Aston Villa interested in loan deal for James McCarthy

Dean Smith is thought to be keen to add to his Aston Villa squad this winter as they look to bolster their chances of returning to the Premier League.

The Villans have already added Lovre Kalinic and Kortney Hause, however, it appears they could look to make another addition.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, Everton’s James McCarthy is thought to be a target for the Championship outfit.

The experienced Republic of Ireland international is yet to feature for Marco Silva at Goodison Park following his double leg fracture.

Aston Villa could look to land the 28-year-old on a temporary switch, with the Premier League side thought to be open to allowing a loan move.

Although it appears there would be competition for his signature with the likes of Bournemouth and Fulham keen.

The Verdict:

Although Villa already have a number of central midfielders, McCarthy would be considered a great addition to the squad and one the club should look to sign.

The 28-year-old is extremely experienced and a move to the Championship outfit could get him playing regular football once again.

However, with a number of clubs thought to be interested in him, it could be considered an ambitious move this January.
